Bible timeline plus various

Uni is done, and so here is a bunch of updates for you. A plethora of pictures! Maybe not enough to account for my recent non-existant updates, but ah well. With my uni career over my main aim is to recommence daily updates, so there should be daily (or at least pretty frequent) pictoral goodies from henceforth!

The 3 images for your viewing pleasure today are a pretty mixed bag. At the top we have my colour coded bible timeline. For building the basic timeline I used a bunch of resources, but mainly the dates and timelines in my study bible (The Christian Growth Study Bible, NIV translation, published by Zondervan) and the bible timeline available to look at here:

My aim was to condense the knowledge from these two sources into a one-page format that would be visuall easy to grasp. Both of these sources have a lot more detail and are a result of much work and effort - so make sure and check them out when you get the chance :)

The last pic is one I drew last night at probbaly around 2am. It's my imagining of the first time my DnD character Anya the Cleric (who also starred in my animation - she's featured in mind-boggling 3D in the poster above XD ) met Steph's character: Elle the Warlock.

There are sevral things I don't like about it as skecth. One is that Anya looks pretty glaikit and seems to be staring fixatedly at the region just above Elle's head. Another is that she looks about 15, rather than 22 whcih is her actual age XD

However, I like the genral feel of the sketch. I was going for the big contrast between them, which I achieved. Anya with her country-bumpkin freckles, and polite manners and positivity, and Elle with her laid back, femme fatale cool-ness. If she were any more hip she'd put on a pair of sunglasses while walking away from an explosion XD

Elle Dawnhallow

This one goes out to Steph - it's my version of a get well soon card ^_^

For those not in our D&D group: Elle is Steph's character - a tiefling warlock with a penchant for destruction and a bit of a pyromaniac streak. Result = BADASS! >:D

Cleric Sketches

I've been doing lots of work, honest. Just haven't had time to upload :) here's part of my cleric blue-print sketches - which I'll use as a guide when building her in Maya.

Got Axe - Part 2

Got Axe - Part 1

Yeah, yeah, I know it's been a while. Dissertation, Christmas, blah blah - kinda been dead the past month or so. But have re-applied myself to this blog, and will hopefully update more regularly from now on, as my dissertation is complete! :) Hard-bound and everything:



Okay, so to get myself back in the creative zone, I've decided to work on a T-Shirt design based around Yakkus, Fraser's Minotaur fighter from our D&D group. I want it to be graphically strong, more of a silhouette and tonal piece than anything else. Pretty much trying to channel Mike Mignola's Hellboy style:




Did some practise sketches to warm up my very rusty drawing skills and get a feel for the character:




And after some experimentation I got a real feel of how I wanted the design to look:


I love the facial expression =D Anyone who knows Fraser will recognise the evil grin as the one he wears when causing mayhem and carnage.

Anyway, after getting the expression down I enlisted some help from my brother with regards a reference picture for the pose:



And after pecilling a a sketch and inking it via lightbox I ended up with this:


...Which I am pretty proud of, if I say so myself ^_^

Planning on working out the shading etc. next. Gonna do all that stuff digitally I think - probably in illustrator. With big thick shadows and small white highlights - and bright red blood dripping off that badass executioners axe >=D

The slogan for the T-shirt, just in case you're wondering, is gonna be "Got axe...?"

(Like the "got milk?" slogan, get it? =D)

Quinzel: Stage 3.5

I've started digitally colouring my quinzel pic in GIMP (a freeware alternative to photoshop - I wanted to practise with it).

I quite like it so far :)

If you look you can see her inked outline ready to be coloured in from underneath. Joys. ^_^

It's Presto!

Me and my little brother have recently become addicted to the 80s Dungeons and Dragons cartoon =D At first I thought it was awful, but I guiltily must admit that I now love it ^_^ And Presto is probably my favourite - although I wish he wasn't so frickin' underpowered compared to the rest of them. At least once an episode I end up yelling at the screen: You're the wizard! Why aren't you summoning a fireball or a magic missile from that hat?! What?! A mousetrap/bag of marbles/can of bug spray?! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!

(...which now leads me to think that a comic of me watching this show would be pretty funny too...)

But I can't stay mad at him, despite his ineptitude at sorcery. He's just too much of a cute li'l nerd! ^_^

"Alakazoodle! Oh no! I overdid the twiddling in my fingers and instead of conjuring some food I conjured a gargantuan red dragon! My bad!"

Seriously - he rocks XD

(Although I have to say - the fact that Eric the cavalier is continuously following him around, to the point of sharing a blanket when they go to bed one night annoys and kinda creeps me out o_0 I'm all like: "Eric! Leave Presto alone! Can't you see he wants to sit next to Diana the hot girl acrobat?!?!")

Quinzel: Stage 2

Here's my sketch from a while ago, now inked and with a goblinoid being zapped added too :) Will colour it over the next few days, if i can be bothered, and if working on my disserattion doesn't sap me of the will to live completely x_x okay, so it's maybe not THAT bad, but it's giving me a severe headache currently. I might just call it a night and try to finish off my form 2 tomorrow...

PS: I bought myself a new superman graphic novel today, so he doesn;t feel rejected :) Okay, so I bought two batman ones at the same time - sue me!

The Finale!

Here is the climactic finish to what started out as a mere scribbly doodle - and I have to say I'm pretty proud of it, even if it's not the best comic in the world. It's certainly the best DnD comic I've ever produced XD

I really like the two panels where Gorgram falls over, I think the energy flow is pretty good, especially Quinzel's frantic anime hand waving XD Also, the ending is cute too. And we did actually let him go in our game (And yes, Quinzel hugged his smelly big toe - it was the only paart she could reach, being 3 ft tall!)
